The mayor of Meco (Madrid), Pedro Sanz, has explained in an interview for El Español that construction on the ALMA Meco logistics and business park, which will house large logistics facilities, is scheduled for 2026. This project is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious for the future of the town, given its impact on economic development and job creation.
ALMA Meco will be developed on one of the largest plots of land available in the Henares Industrial Corridor, with an area of more than 250 hectares, making it a unique site in the Region of Madrid.
This logistics and business park will house, among other companies, Mercadona, which plans to build a large logistics platform of 40 hectares; a plot of land of a size that does not exist in the whole of region of Madrid.
With this project, the mayor hopes to strengthen Meco’s economic base, which could translate into a greater demand for housing and an evolution towards a more dynamic city model, where employment and services are even more accessible to its residents
This development is in line with other expansion plans, such as the creation of new housing and the improvement of key infrastructure, such as the widening of the M-121 road to Alcalá de Henares.
